There is an Angel named Rooh, who has seventy thousand heads, Each head has seventy thousand faces, and face contains seventy thousand mouths. Each mouth is made up of seventy thousand tongues and each tongue is blessed with seventy thousand languages.

(Imam Badruddin Mahmood Ai’nee RadiyAllah Anhu in his book Umdatul Qaari Sharah Sahi-ul-Bukhari, Tafseer Al Kabeer, Tafseer Ibn Kathir, Tafseer Qurtubi, Tafseer Durrul Mansur, Bayhaqi)

“By means of these languages, this Angel is constantly reciting the Tasbeeh of Almighty Allah From each Tasbeeh, one Angel is being Created. This angel soars into the Heavens with the rest of the three Angels until the Day of Judgment”. (i.e. the number of different languages in which the Angels Glorify Almighty Allah will be 1 680 700 000 000 000 000 000 000) All Praise is due to Almighty Allah Who is Infinite and so are His Attributes and Glory!

Special Dua taught by Holy Prophet to a Blind Sahabi

Special Dua taught by Holy Prophet to a Blind Sahabi

Special Dua taught by Holy Prophet to a Blind Sahabi

The Holy Prophet ﷺ taught a special Dua to a blind Sahabi and to recite the dua after every Namaz

On the authority of Hazrat Usman bin Hunaif (RadiyAllahu Anhu), that a Sahabi who was blind by birth was taught a special Du'a by the Holy Prophet ﷺ,  O Allah, I ask from you, and turn towards you through the Waseela of Your Nabi Muhammad ﷺ who is indeed a Prophet of Mercy. O Rasool of Allah ﷺ, with your Waseela (Medium) I turn towards Allah for my need so that it may be bestowed. O Allah, accept the Prophet's intercession for me.

Below is the dua
Allahumma Inni As Aluka Wa Ata Wajjahu Ilaika Binabiyika Muhammadin Nabiyyir rahmati Ya Muhammadu Inni Ata Wajjahu Bika ila Rabbi Fi Haajati haazihi lituqda li. Allahumma Fashaf'fi'u Fiya

(Imam Ahmad in Musnad Ahmad, Tirmizi in Kita bud Da’awaat, , Ibn Majah in Iqaamat us Salah, Imam Haakim in Al Mustadrak at 5 places, Imam Tabarani in Mu’jam Al Kabeer and in Mu’jam As Sagheer, Ibn Khuzaymah).

Status of Martyrs in Islam - इस्लाम में शहीद का मर्तबा

How fortunate are those for having tasted the death with the remembrance of Nabi e Kareem ﷺ and that too on the most exalted day.

And how unfortunate are those for making themselves eligible for Hell fire by killing the Muslims and that too during the remembrance of the One (ﷺ) whose Kalima has to be recited in order to be called a Muslim.

Surah Nisa : 93

And whoever slays a Muslim on purpose, his reward will be hell – to remain in it for ages – and Allah has wreaked wrath upon him and has cursed him and kept prepared a terrible punishment for him

May ALLAH TA’ALA elevate the status of those Martys

What is (Haiz) or menstruation - Frequently Asked Questions

What is (Haiz) or menstruation - Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is (Haiz) or menstruation?

A1. When a female becomes a teenager, the blood that comes out from her private part (vagina) on a fixed time basis is known as menstruation or period (Haiz). A menstruating woman is not considered dirty or sinful, as is the case in some other religions and cultures. It is natural and normal for every girl from about nine to sixteen years of age to start menstruating. Another word for menstruation is “period”. A female usually has a period every 28 days (once a month), but this cycle often varies from about 25 to 35 days, women have different patterns. A menstrual period usually lasts between three and six days, but may be a day or two longer. When one starts having periods they are often rather irregular. One may have one and then not have another for a few months. After a while they will probably settle down. Use a diary to mark down the days when one has one’s period over the next six months and one may begin to see a pattern. A female should be able to work out the average length of time between periods, which will help her to know when to expect them. Once a female starts menstruating she is physically capable of having a baby. The cycle is repeated over and over again until about 54 years of age.

Q2. At what age does menstruation begin?
A2. Menstruation or period begins when you are at least nine years old. It ends when a woman is about fifty-five years old.

Q3. What happens just before a period?
A3. You may feel tense and irritable just before a period. Some girls feel tired and are unable to concentrate. Some feel weepy and depressed. Some girls get angry. It is normal to feel tired or even dizzy when your period is just starting or is at its heaviest. This is known as “PMS” or “Pre-menstrual syndrome”.

Q4. Are you sick when you have a period?
A4. Definitely not. It is normal for all females to have them. Some girls get abdominal cramps, or a headache, or feel a little bloated at the beginning of a period, but this is perfectly normal and will disappear in a day or two. Period pains can be worse if you are worried and tense. Some girls try to hold on to the blood flow because they are worried about soiling their clothes.

Q5. How can you prevent your clothes from getting soiled when you have your periods?
A5. There are special soft, absorbent pads (sanitary towels), which fit on the inside of your panties, called sanitary pads. They absorb the blood. You can also use tampons, which are inserted into the vagina. If your blood flow is very heavy, you may find that a little blood leaks around the edges, so it can help to wear darker colored pants, which won’t show the blood. Sometimes you will need to change your pads two or three times a day, but if it is heavy you will have to change every couple of hours.

Q6. What can you do if you have period pains?
A6. The best thing to do is relax, preferably in a warm place. If you are at home, curling up under the duvet with a hot water bottle and relaxing for a while can help. Some schools have a sick room to sit in or you can take a painkiller to help you relax.

Q7. What are the colors of menstruation?
A7. A period generally begins and ends with a slight, brownish discharge. In between, the blood becomes redder and the flow heavier. There are six colors of menstruation: black, red, green, yellow, brown and clayey. The white discharge is not menstruation.

Q8. How long does menstruation last?
A8. The time period for menstruation is at least three days and three nights, meaning a full seventy-two hours. The maximum is ten days and ten nights. Periods generally start light and are heavier for just a couple of days.

Q9. What is (Istihaza)?
A9. (Istihaza) is the blood that is discharged due to some illness.

Q10. If the blood is discharged before the age of nine years, is it regarded as Haiz or not?
A10. No. It is called Istihaza.

Q11. What happens if the blood stops just less than seventy-two hours?
A11. Then, it is not a period but Istihaza.

Q12. What happens if the blood flows for more than ten days?
A12. If this is the first instance that blood is discharged, then for the ten days it is regarded as menstruation and the rest it is Istihaza.

Q13. What happens in a case if the usual time for menstruation is five days, but the blood is discharged for ten days? Would all these days be regarded as menstruation or not?
A13. All the days are recognized as menstruation.

Q14. What happens in a case if the usual time for menstruation is five days, but the blood is discharged for twelve days? Would all these days be regarded as menstruation or not?
A14. The first five days is menstruation and the other seven is Istihaza.

Q15. What happens if there is no regular pattern in the menstrual cycle, for example, sometimes the blood is discharged for four days and sometimes for five days?
A15. Whatever amount of days was the last period, this will be counted on this occasion. It is not necessary that blood continue to be discharged all the time. If it starts and stops it is still recognized as menstruation.

Q16. Can you miss your period?
A16. Yes. You can also miss your period if you lose a lot of weight, are very stressed (for example, before exams), when traveling or during a family crisis, or if you are regularly involved in strenuous physical activity (for example, if you are an athlete) or hardworking.

Q17. What must you do with the pads that you used?
A17. You must dispose of it immediately and not store it under the bed or in the cupboard. Wrap them up well in paper and put them in the nearest bin. Only flush pads in the toilet as a last resort. Try to avoid this as it can clog the system.

Q18. What other changes take place in a girl’s body?
A18. In the year or two before your periods start, you will have become aware of changes in your body. You will become more aware of your body. At the start of puberty, a girl often starts to grow very suddenly, both in height and weight. Her face becomes fuller, and her voice a little lower. Her breasts start to develop and pubic and underarm hair starts to grow. She will find that she perspires much more than she used to. If you are having any worries about periods or changes that are happening to your body, it helps if there is someone to talk to. Talk to your mother, an older sister, aunt or madressa teacher. You should not be ashamed or embarrassed to consult with them.

22 Rajab Niyaz Ki Haqeeqat (Kundon ki Niyaz)

22 Rajab Niyaz Ki Haqeeqat (Kundon ki Niyaz)

22 Rajab Niyaz (Kundon) Ki Haqeeqat | Permissibility of Fateha of Imam Jafar Sadiq Rahmatulahi Alai

It is definitely permissible to do this Fateha of Imam Jafar Sadiq Rahmatulahi Alai  in the holy month of Rajab.

Faqih e Azam e Hind, Khalifa e Alahazrat , Hazrat Sadr us Sharia RA wrote :

Even though the Wisaal of Sayyiduna Imam Ja’far Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu is on the 15th of Rajab, on the 22nd of Rajab Sunnis do a Niyaz (Faateha) attributed to Imam Ja’far Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. It must be noted that there is no objection to making this Niyaz or any other Niyaz of the Beloveds.

However, our Masha’ikh have mentioned that 22nd of Rajab also marks the Wisaal of Sahabi e Rasool Hazrat Sayyiduna Amir Mu’awiyah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu and some have said that shias show happiness on this day, at his Wisaal.

Our Masters have mentioned that when doing the Niyaz of Sayyiduna Imam Ja’far Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu on this day, we should also include with it the Faateha of Hazrat Sayyiduna Amir Mu’awiyah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu, as some have mentioned that Sayyiduna Imam Ja’far Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu initially recommended this Faateha to honour Hazrat Amir Mu’awiyah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu.

Concerning the Niyaz of Imam Ja’far Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu Huzoor Sayyidi Sadrush Shariah says,

In the month of Rajab, the Koonde of Hazrat Jalaal Bukhari Rahmatullah Allai is done by some people. This is done by cooking rice or Kheer which is filled into earthen troughs (i.e. clay bowls). After that, Faateha is made (over it), and it is fed to the people. This too is permissible. However, there is one thing that is undesirable, and that is the fact that they only feed it to people at the place where the bowls have been filled. They do not allow one to move away from there.

This is an absurd practice (i.e. the practice of saying it can only be eaten there) and is the manner of ignorant people. This does not prevail amongst those who are educated.

Similarly, during the month of Rajab, earthen troughs are filled with Purees for the Esaal-e-Thawaab of Imam Ja’far Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu (i.e. famously known as Kheer Puri). This too is permissible. However, even in this, some people have brought in the same restriction. This is an unfounded restriction. With regards to this ‘Koonde’ (i.e. Niyaz of Imam Ja’far), there is also a book which is known as ‘Dastaan-e-Ajeeb. Some people read this during this time. There is no source of that which has been written in this book. It is advisable to refrain from reading it. One should simply read the Faateha and perform the Esaal-e-Thawaab. [Bahaar e Shariat Volume 16]

Hence, to do this Niyaz on the 22nd of Rajab or any other day is entirely permissible. The same applies to any other Niyaz. It may be done on any day, as long as the intention is pure and it is done within the confines of the pristine Shariah.

It must further be noted that anyone who slanders any Sahabi of Nabi is destined for hell. Aala Hazrat Imam Ahle Sunnat Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu says that the one who slanders Hazrat Amir Mu’awiyah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu is a dog from among the dogs of Hell.

Once, Hazrat Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mubaarak Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu was asked about whether Hazrat Amir Mu’awiyah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu or Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu is greater.

He was clearly displeased by this question and clarified that a non-Sahabi cannot be more exalted than a Sahabi, but he responded to this question with these beautiful words;

“The dust which entered the nostrils of the horse of Hazrat Amir Mu’awiyah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu while he rode in battle beside Nabi sallal laahu alaihi wasallam is more virtuous than Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. ”

Verse 1

And those who came after them say, “O our Lord! Forgive us, and our brothers who accepted faith before us, and do not keep any malice in our hearts towards the believers – O our Lord! Indeed You only are the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.”. (Surah Hashr 59:10)

Note that the above verse is a very strong evidence of the practice of the Sahaba, which was so loved by Allah that it is part of the Holy Qur’an. Why would the Sahaba pray for the deceased people if their prayer was of no benefit? And to top it all, Allah the Almighty has approved and praised their action!

Verse 2

"O our Lord! And forgive me, and my parents, and all the Muslims on the day when the account will be established." (Surah Ibrahim 14:41)

The benefit of the above verse is obvious. The prayer of Prophet Syedna Ibrahim (peace be upon him), includes all believers – right from the beginning i.e. those before him, and till the end of this world i.e. even those who are not yet born. Al Hamdo Lillah! And this prayer is often made in the last part (Qaadah) of our Salaat.

Verse 3

And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith, -- to them We shall join their families: nor shall We deprive them of the fruit of anything of their works: yet each individual is in pledge for his deeds. (Surah Toor 52:21).”

This verse says that children will be admitted into Paradise because of the righteousness of the parents.

Verse 4

And lower your wing humbly for them, with mercy, and pray, "My Lord! Have mercy on them both, the way they nursed me when I was young." (Surah Bani Israel 17:24)

This verse is in fact a command from Allah for all believers to seek mercy for their parents. So what is your opinion? Will not the command of Allah hold any benefit for the deceased parent?? It certainly does.

Also note that there are several other verses from the Holy Qur’an that teach us to pray, and the prayer includes all Muslim brothers & sisters (living, passed away or yet to be borne).

Readers are requested to reflect on the fact that the above verses are part of the Holy Qur’an – they are read perhaps millions of times every day all over the world, as part of regular recitation, and also as Qirat within Salaat, and also as prayer in the last part (Qaadah) of Salaat.

Hadeeth 1

Abu Huraira (Allah be well pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) as saying: When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious son, who prays for him (for the deceased). (Muslim)

Hadeeth 2

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)said, "What is credited to a believer of his action and good deed after his death is any useful knowledge he might have taught or spread, a Allah-fearing child he might have left behind, a copy of the Qur'an he might have left to an heir, a mosque he might have built, a house he might have dedicated for use by travelers, a stream or river he might have caused to run, a donation to charity (i.e. sadaqah) he might have set aside when he was enjoying good health. All that catches up with him after his death." (Ibn Majah)

Hadeeth 3

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'Aas (Allah be well pleased with him): Al-'As ibn Wa'il left his will that a hundred slaves should be emancipated on his behalf. His son Hisham emancipated fifty slaves and his son Amr intended to emancipate the remaining fifty on his behalf, but he said: I should ask first the Apostle of Allah . He, therefore, came to the Holy Prophet and said: Apostle of Allah, my father left in his will that a hundred slaves should be emancipated on his behalf and Hisham has emancipated fifty on his behalf and fifty remain. Shall I emancipate them on his behalf? The Apostle of Allah said: Had he been a Muslim and you had emancipated slaves on his behalf, or given sadaqah on his behalf, or performed the pilgrimage, that would have reached him. (Abu Daud)

Hadeeth 4

Abu Huraira (Allah be well pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) as saying: He who alleviates the suffering of a brother out of the sufferings of the world, Allah would alleviate his suffering from the sufferings of the Day of Resurrection, and he who finds relief for one who is hard pressed, Allah would make things easy for him in the Hereafter, and he who conceals (the faults) of a Muslim, Allah would conceal his faults in the world and in the Hereafter. Allah is at the back of a servant so long as the servant is at the back of his brother, and he who treads the path in search of know- ledge, Allah would make that path easy, leading to Paradise for him and those persons who assemble in the house among the houses of Allah (mosques) and recite the Book of Allah and they learn and teach the Qur'an (among themselves) there would descend upon them the tranquility and mercy would cover them and the angels would surround them and Allah makes a mention of them in the presence of those near Him, and he who is slow-paced in doing good deeds, his (high) lineage does not make him go ahead. (Muslim)

Is wearing Taweez (Amulet) (Shirk) permissible in Islam with videoI

Is wearing Taweez (Amulet) (Shirk) permissible in Islam with videoI

Is wearing Taweez permitted in Islam? Is it Shirk to wera Taweez in Islam? Why is Taweez worn in Islam? Is there any relevance to wearing Taweez in islam? What is the status of Black Magic in Islam? And you may have may such questions on Taweez (Amulet)

We bring you detail information on Taweez from Quran and Hadiths. We also bring you videos in for of Audio to explain better by Mufti Shahid Barkati

Video: Kya Taweez Pehana Shirk hain (Quran aur Hadees ki Roshni mein)

What is Taweez?

The definition of a Ta’weez is simply ‘a written Du'a,’ which is from the Qur’an or Ahadith, and is for the one who cannot read or has not memorized that particular Du'a. It is written on a piece of paper and is worn around the neck.

We, the Ahle Sunnah believe, to wear a Taweez around the neck is permissible if the du’a contained in it is written from the Qur’an or Ahadith. Prophet Muhammad [May Allah bless him and grant him peace] used to recite du’a and then blew onto the sick person. The companions of the Prophet [May Allah bless him and grant Him peace] also did this and the companions wrote the du’a on a piece of paper and placed it around the neck of that person if they could not read it. Of course, the du’as from the Qur’an and Ahadith have the power to heal the sick. Some people say, if you wear the Taweez you are commiting shirk, but we will prove, with the help of Allah Almighty, that it is permissible to wear a Taweez.

Proof of Taweez from Quran

The Qur’an has the power of healing

Allah Almighty says in the Qur’an,

“…We send down in Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy to the believers…”

(Surah Bani Israeel Verse 82).

Qadi Shawkani writes, if the Qur’an’s du’as are recited and blown on the sick, they will be cured. When the non-believers recite the Qur’an, their blasphemic disease will be cured. (Tafsir Fathul Qadir under Verse 82 Surah Bani Israeel).

Proof of wearing the Taweez

1) Hafidhh ibn Kathir and Qadi Shawkani writes:

Amr Ibn Shu’aib RadhiAllahu ‘anhu says, that ‘RasoolAllah (Sallallahu’ alaihi wa sallam) taught my Father and grandFather a Du'a which we would read before going to sleep, to protect us from fear and anguish. We told our elder children to recite this Du'a before going to sleep as well. But for those children who were not yet literate, we would write it and then put it around their necks.

[Musnad Ahmad Ibn Hanbal vol.2, Abu Dawud in Chapter of Medicine, Tafsir by Hafidhh Ibn Kathir of verse 97 of Surah Al-Mu’minoon and Qadi Shawkaani in Fath-ul-Qadeer under the same verse]

It is permissible to read du’a and blow upon the sick

2) Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim writes:

When a person who was sick or in some distress they would go to the Prophet [May Allah bless him and grant Him peace] who would then place his hand on the area of the pain and recite a du’a and then blow onto him.
(Bukhari, Muslim chap on Tibb).

3) Imam Muslim writes:

When the Prophet [May Allah bless him and grant Him peace] was ill for the last time, angel Jibreel [May Allah bless him and grant Him peace] came and recited du’a and blew on to the Prophet [May Allah bless him and grant Him peace]. (Muslim chapter on Tibb)

4) Imam Muslim writes:

Aisha (Radiall hu anhua) said when the Prophet [May Allah bless him and grant Him peace] was ill the last time, she recited Surah Al-Falaq and Surah Al-Naas and then blew on to the Prophet [May Allah bless him and grant Him peace]’s hands. The Prophet then blew this onto his own face and body because his hands had more blessing then Aisha’s (Radiall hu anha).

(Muslim chap on Tibb)

From the above narrations, it proves that to blow after reciting du’as onto the sick is Sunnah and the more pious the person is, the more healing power he has because he is blessed more than the less pious.

5) Hafidhh ibn Taymiyyah writes:

It is permissible to [to recite du’as, and then] blow upon the sick in Islam, but the words must be from the Qur’an or Ahadith. If the words are not then it is not permissible.
[Al-Tawasul chapter on Blowing onto the Sick by Hafidh ibn Taymiyyah]

FAQS of wearing Taweez

Q) Some people say, “How is it allowed to blow dua’s onto the sick, when some Hadith say this is forbidden?”

Allama Sa’idi has written the answer to this question in great detail he’s also put the opinion of all the other great scholars, and we will present this here.

Allama Gulam Rasool Sa’idi writes:

Imam Nawawi Rahmatullah in Sharh Muslim states: ‘there are two types of Ahadith concerning blowing. (Reciting a Du'a and then blowing onto a person.) One of the types is transmitted in Bukhari: ‘There will be people who will enter Paradise without any questioning, who have never been blown upon’. Imam Muslim Rahmatullah has also written a hadith in support of those who do not ask to be blown upon. Imam Bukhari Rahmatullah in the chapter on Tibb (Medicine) has written Du'as, which our Prophet [May Allah bless Him and grant Him peace] recited when doing ‘Damm’ (Reciting a Du'a and then blowing onto a person). Imam Muslim Rahmatullah states in the Chapter on Virtues of the Prophet [May Allah bless Him and grant Him peace] that: when our Prophet [May Allah bless Him and grant Him peace] was ill, the Angel Jibreel came to him and performed the blowing. The above types of Ahadith apparently seem to contradict each other but in reality there is no contradiction.

The former type of Hadith refers to the prohobition of having read something that is not from the Qur’an and Sunnah [ie, something that has pictures, diagrams and words not from the Qur’an] and then blow upon someone. The latter types of Ahadith which permit Damm refer to those Kalimaat (words or verses) which have been taught by the Prophet [May Allah bless Him and grant Him peace]. In the same way as above there are two types of Ahadith concerning Ta’weez. There are many narrations that forbid the use of Ta’weez and also many permitting their use. Imam Qurtubi Rahmatullah wrote in detail about both types of Ahadith concerning Ta'weez: ‘The Ta’weez that are forbidden are those Ta’weez from the time of ignorance, those which are Satanic and contain an element of Shirk'. (Mantar, Voodoo and Magic etc.) The Ta’weez, which are permitted are those written with Du'as, which are evident from Qur’an and Ahadith only. Here are the narrations, which show that it is permitted for a person to put a Ta’weez around his/her neck.

Allama Alusi Hanafi in his Tafsir of the Qur’an writes: According to Imam Malik Rahmatullah ‘It is permitted to put around the neck the Ta’weez written with the name of Allah? Imam Baqir also stated that it is permitted to put such a Ta’weez around the neck of a child. [Rooh-ul-Ma’ani, chapter 15" under verse 97 of Surah Mu'minoon]

Allama Shami Hanafi Rahmatullah writes:

It is permitted to write a Ta’weez and put it around the neck. He further adds that it would be better if a person recites the Du'as taught by the Prophet (Sallallahu’ alaihi wa sallam.) But if a person cannot read or is too young to recite then it is permitted for that person to put it around the neck
[Rud-ul-Mukhtar chapter Qirat, Sharah Sahih Muslim chapter on Tib by Allama Sa’idi].

To conclude it can be said that those verses that oppose the Qur’an, Shari’ah, or the Sunnah are forbidden to read and also forbidden to put around the neck. But as for the Du'as and verses from the Qur’an and Sunnah it is permitted to be written and put around the neck of a small child or an illiterate or a sick person.

Special Ramadan Month Dua

Special Ramadan Month Dua

Special Ramadan Month Dua

#Dua is a Arabic word meaning "invocation" and it is an act of supplication. The term is derived from an Arabic word meaning to 'call out' or to 'summon', and Muslims regard this as a profound act of worship. The Islamic prophet Muhammad is reported to have said "Dua is the very essence of worship," while one of God's commands expressed through the Quran is for them to call out to Him:

The Prophet (Salalahu 'alaihi was sallam) said:

The best dhikr is:
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا الله
'La ilaha illa Allah'
(There is no god but Allah).

"There are two expressions which are light on the tongue but heavy in scale and are dear to the Compassionate One (Allah). These two phrases are:
سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِه
(Glorified be Allah and His is the Praise.)

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ العَظِيْمِ
'Subha-nal-lahil Adeem'
(Glorified be Allah, the Most Exalted)." (B)

"The dearest words to Allah are four:
سُبْحَانَ اللهِ
(Glory be to Allah)

َالْحَمْدُ لله
(Praise be to Allah)

َاللهُ أَكْبَر
'Allahu Akbar'
(God is the Greatest)

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا الله
'La ilaha illallah'
(There is no god but Allah)

There is no difference in which order you say them (while remembering Allah)." (M)
Once the Prophet (S) left to pray Fajr Salat from (his wife's home) while she was offering prayer. When he (S) returned after Ishraq prayer, she was still sitting on her prayer carpet. On this he (S) said to her: "Have you been continuously sitting in the same place since I left you?" She replied, "Yes." Thereupon he (S) said: "After I left you, I have recited four sentences three times; and if they could be measured against what you have recited since morning they would prove weightier. These four sentences are:
سبحان الله وبحمده عدد خلقه, ورضا نفسه, وزنة عرشه, ومداد كلماته
"Subhanal lahi wa bi ham-di-hi ada-da Khal-qihi wa rida'a naf-sihi wa zina-ta 'ar-shi-hi wa mida-da Kale-mate-hi."
(Glory be to Allah and praise is due to Him, according to the number of His creation and according to His pleasure and corresponding to the weight of His Throne and as much as the ink [used in recording] His words). (M)

"Whoever says,
(There is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner. The Kingdom and praise belong to Him and He has power over everything.)

...100 times a day, will have a recompense equal to that of freeing ten slaves. Also, 100 good actions are written for him, 100 wrong actions are erased from him, and it is a protection from Satan for that day until the night. No one does anything more excellent than someone who does more than that." (B & M)
"Is one amongst you powerless to get one thousand virtues every day?" Amongst those who had been sitting there, one asked, 'How can one amongst us get one thousand virtues every day?' He (S) said, "Say:
سُبْحَانَ اللهِ
'Subhan Allah'
(Glory be Allah)

...100 times. For (by reciting them), one thousand virtues are recorded (to your credit) and one thousand vices are blotted out." (M)
"Shall I tell you a sentence which is one of the treasures of Paradise?" I said, 'Yes, Messenger of Allah!' He said, "It is...
لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ
'La Haula wala Quwwata il-la bil-lah.'

'Raditu bil-lahi rabban wabil-islami dinan wabi-Muhammadin nabiyyan salalahi aleihe weselem rasulah.'
(I am pleased with Allah as a God, and Islam as a religion, and Muhammad (S) as a messenger.)

...paradise is his." (AD)
"He who says,
سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ
'Subhan Allah Wa Bihamdih'
(Holy is Allah and to Him belongs all praise)

...a date tree is planted for him in Paradise."

Waking Up from a Bad Dream
"If any of you saw a dream which he liked, then that was from Allah, and he should thank Allah for it and tell it to others. But if he saw something else, i.e. a dream that he did not like, then that is from Satan and he should seek refuge with Allah from it and should not tell it to anybody for it will not harm him." (B)
"A good dream is from Allah and a bad dream is from Satan. So whoever has seen (in a dream) something he disliked, then he should spit without saliva thrice on his left side and seek refuge with Allah from Satan by saying:
اعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
'A'oothu bilahe minashaitan arajeem.'
(I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed devil.)

Then it will not harm him, and Satan cannot appear in my shape.' (B & M)

(There is no god but Allah, the Great, the Tolerant. There is no god but Allah, the Lord of the Magnificent Throne. There is no god but Allah, the Lord of the Heaven and the Earth, the Lord of the Edifying Throne). (B & M)

'Ya Hayu Ya Qayoum Birahmetika Astegheeth. Aslih Li Sha'ni Kullahu Wa La Takilni 'Ila Nafsi Tarfata 'Ayn.'

'Allahumma bariklaana feeha, Allahumma bariklaana feeha, Allahumma bariklaana feeha. Allahuma arzuqna Janaha, Allahuma habbibna eela ahleeha wa habbib salihee ahleeha eelaina.'
(O Allah, bless us in it. O Allah, bless us in it. O Allah, bless us in it. O Allah, grant us sustenance from its fruits, put our love in the hearts of its people, and put the love of the righteous people in our hearts.) (Attabarani)

Upon Eating & Drinking
"Mention the name of Allah (Bismillah) eat with your right hand, and eat from what is near to you." (B & M)
"When one of you eats, he should mention the name of Allah before beginning.
بِسْمِ اللَّه
(In the name of Allah.)

And if he forgets, he should say,
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ فِي أَوَّلِه ِِ وَآخِرِهِ
'Bismillah awalu wa akhiru."
(In the name of Allah in the start and the end.)" (AD & T)

Upon Breaking the Fast
اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ صُمْتُ وَعَلى رِزْقِكَ اَفْطَرْتُ
'Allahuma laka sumtu wa ala rizqeeka aftartu.'
(O Allah! It is for You that I observe fast and it is with Your provision that I break it.)

Upon Finishing a Meal
الحمد لله الذي اطعمنا وسقانا وجعلنا مسلمين
'Alhamdu lilahil-athi at'amana wasaqana waja Alana Muslimin.'
(Praise be to Allah Who has given us food and drink and made us Muslims.)

الحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنِي هَذَا وَرَزَقَنِيْهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْل ٍ مِنِّي وَلا قُوَّة
'Alhamdo lil-lahil lathi at 'amani haatha wa razaqanii-hi min ghair-e-haulimmin-ni wala Quw'wah.'
(Praise be to Allah Who has fed me with this food and provided me without any effort or power on my part.)

...he will be forgiven for his past sins.

What The Guest Says To His Host
افطر عندكم الصائمون, واكل طعامكم الابرار, وصلت عليكم الملائكة
'Aftara endakoom as'sa-imuna wa akala ta amakumul abraru wa sallat alaikomul mala-ikah.'
(May the fasting (men) break their fast with you, the pious eat your food, and the angels pray for blessings on you.) (AD)

Before Giving a Speech or Taking a Test
رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي
Rabbishrah lee sadree wayassir lee amree wahlul 'Uqdatam-mil-li saanee yafqahoo qawlee.'
(O my Lord! Expand for me my chest; ease my task for me; and remove the impediment from my speech; so they may understand what I say.) (Surah Ta-Ha, 20:25-28)

1) It is from the sunnah to repeat your dua 3 times.

2) It is from the etiquette of dua to make it in a moderate voice.
Not too loud.
Not too low.

O people! Don’t exert yourselves, for you do not call a deaf or an absent one, but you call the All- Listener, the All-Seer.
– Prophet Muhammad

[Sahih Al Bukhari]

3) Call Allah using His Beautiful Names
Al Wali – The Protecting Friend.
Al Qareeb – The One who is Near.
Al Wakeel – The Most Trustworthy.

4) If Allah granted the dua of Shaytan do you think he will not grant your dua?

Remember that the reply of dua comes in 3 forms

a) Yes.
b) Yes but on a later date, not immediately.
c) Some difficult/trouble is waved off.

“No believer makes Dua and it is wasted. Either it is granted here in this world or deposited for him in the Hereafter as long as he does not get frustrated.”
-[Aisha radiAllahu anha]

5) Make dua for your friends and Ummah, Angels will make the same dua for you. It is an absolute win win situation. Make sure you make dua for atleast 10 close friends.

6) Begin & End your dua by sending Salaam on Prophet Muhammad.

“Invoke blessings at the beginning and the end of your supplications. Allah is sure to accept both blessings and it is unlikely that He would not accept what is in between.”
– [Abu Sulaiman Ad-Darani]

Duaa is suspended between heaven and earth and none of it is taken up until you send blessings upon your Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam.”
–  [Umar radiAllahu anhu]

7) Dua is a form of Worship. You get rewarded for making dua. This itself should be reason enough for us to be constantly engaged in making dua.
