Around the World in Ramadan: Unveiling the Longest and Shortest Fasting Times

Around the World in Ramadan: Unveiling the Longest and Shortest Fasting Times

Ramadan, a deeply significant time for Muslims around the world, is a month-long period that varies in fasting duration depending on geographical location. In this blog post, we will examine the essence of Ramadan and fasting, the varying fasting times around the world, and countries that experience the longest and shortest fasting hours. Additionally, we will provide insights into fasting in India and the Middle East and conclude with the top 10 countries with the most extended and briefest fasting hours.

What is Ramadan?

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, commemorated by Muslims worldwide as a time of introspection, prayer, and spiritual growth. It is believed that the first verses of the Quran were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad during this month. Observing Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, making it an essential aspect of a Muslim's faith and practice.

What is Fasting?

Fasting, or Sawm in Arabic, is the practice of abstaining from food, drink, smoking, and other physical needs from dawn until sunset during Ramadan. Fasting is an act of worship and devotion, enabling Muslims to draw closer to Allah, increase self-discipline, and develop empathy for the less fortunate. It is obligatory for all healthy adult Muslims, with some exceptions, such as the elderly, pregnant, or ill individuals.

Ramadan Time Around the World

As the Islamic calendar is lunar-based, the start and end of Ramadan shift approximately 11 days earlier each year according to the Gregorian calendar. Consequently, the duration of daylight hours during which Muslims fast varies globally due to factors like geographical location and season.

Which Country Fasts the Longest in the World?

During the summer months, countries in higher latitudes, such as Iceland and Norway, experience the most prolonged fasting hours globally. In Iceland's capital, Reykjavik, fasting durations can extend up to 22 hours during peak summer days.

(English Version) Sarkaar-E-Gaus-E-Aa'zam ! Nazar-E-Karam, Khuda-Ra

Sarkare Ghause Azam Nazre Karam Khudara

Mera Khaali Kaasa Bhar Do, Mai.N Faqeer Hu.N Tumhaara

Sab Ka Koi Na Koi Duniya Me.N Aasra Hai

Mera Ba-Juz Tumhaare, Koi Nahi.N Sahaara

Maula 'Ali Ka Sadqa, Ganj-E-Shakar Ka Sadqa

Meri Laaj Rakh Lo, Ya Gaus ! Mai.N Mureed Hu.N Tumhaara

Jholi Ko Meri Bhar Do, Warna Kahegi Duniya

Aise Sakhi Ka Mangta Phirta Hai Maara Maara

Meeraa.N Bane Hai.N Dulha Mehfil Saji Hui Hai

Sab Auliya Baraati, Kya Khoob Hai Nazaara !

Ye 'Ata-E-Dast-Geeree Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe

Wahi.N Aa Gae Madad Ko, Mai.N Ne Jab Jahaa.N Pukaara

Ye Ada-E-Dast-Geeree Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe

Wahi.N Aa Gae Madad Ko, Mai.N Ne Jab Jahaa.N Pukaara

Ye Tera Karam Hai, Murshid ! Jo Bana Liya Hai Apna

Kahaa.N Roo-Siyaah Fareedi ! Khaa.N Silsila Tumhaara

Hum Ne Ankhon Se Dekha Nahi Hai Magar | Very Emotional Naat

Hum Ne Ankhon Se Dekha Nahi Hai Magar | हम ने आँखों से देखा नहीं है मगर | Very Emotional Naat Lyrics

Hum Ne Ankhon Se Dekha Nahi Hai Magar (English Version)

Hum Ne Ankhon Se Dekha Nahi Hai Magar

Unki Tasveer Sine Me Moujood Hai

Jisne laakar Kalaame Ilaahi diya

Wo Muhammad Madine mein Maujud hai

Phool khilte hein Padh kar ke Salle Ala

Jhoom kar keh rahi hai ye Baage Saba

Aesi Khushbu Chaman ke Ghulon mein kahan

Jo Nabi ke Pasine mein Maujud hai

Hum Ne Ankhon Se Dekha Nahi Hai Magar

Unki Tasveer Sine Me Moujood Hai

Jisne laakar Kalaame Ilaahi diya

Wo Muhammad Madine mein Maujud hai

Hamne maana ke Jannat bahot hai haseen

Chhod kar Ham Madina na jayein kahin

Yun to Jannat mein sab hai Madina nahin

Aur Jannat Madine mein Maujud hai

Hum Ne Ankhon Se Dekha Nahi Hai Magar

Unki Tasveer Sine Me Moujood Hai

Jisne laakar Kalaame Ilaahi diya

Wo Muhammad Madine mein Maujud hai

Chhodna Tera Tayba gawaara nahin

Saare Aalam mein Aesa Nazaara nahin

Aesa Manzar Zamaane mein dekha nahin

Jaisa Manzar Madine mein Maujud hai

Hum Ne Ankhon Se Dekha Nahi Hai Magar

Unki Tasveer Sine Me Moujood Hai

Jisne laakar Kalaame Ilaahi diya

Wo Muhammad Madine mein Maujud hai

Woh Abu Bakr, Faruq, Usman, Ali

Hai yeh sab un ke deene Mubih ke Faqih

Wo Faqeeho ke afsar shahe Anbiya

Wo Shahenshah Madine mein maujood he

Hum Ne Ankhon Se Dekha Nahi Hai Magar

Unki Tasveer Sine Me Moujood Hai

Jisne laakar Kalaame Ilaahi diya

Wo Muhammad Madine mein Maujud hai

Besahaaron ko sine se lipta liya

Jisne Jo Maanaga Usko ata kar diya

Wo Fakiron ke Afsar Shahe Ambiya

Wo Shahenshah Madine mein Mojud hai

Hum Ne Ankhon Se Dekha Nahi Hai Magar

Unki Tasveer Sine Me Moujood Hai

Jisne laakar Kalaame Ilaahi diya

Wo Muhammad Madine mein Maujud hai

Hindi Version (हम ने आँखों से देखा नहीं है मगर)
