Laylat al-Qadr | The Night of Power from Hadiths

I. Hadrat Anas ibn Malik reported that when Ramadan came, the Holy Prophet said, “Indeed this month has come to you, and in it is a night more virtuous than a thousand months. So, whosoever is deprived of its blessings is deprived of all blessings. No one is kept deprived of its blessings, but only those who are unfortunate.” [Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 1, Page 119]

II. Hadrat ‘Aishah reported that the Messenger of Allah has said, “Seek Lailatul Qadr on an odd numbered night (21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th and the 29th) among the last ten (nights) of Ramadan.” [Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 1, Page 270]

III. Hadrat ‘Aishah reported that the Messenger of Allah used to strive hard in devotion in the last ten nights more than at any other time. [Sahih Muslim, Vol. 1, Page 372]

IV. Hadrat Anas reported that the Messenger of Allah has said, “When Lailatul Qadr comes, Gabriel comes down with a company of angels who invoke blessings on everyone who is standing or sitting remembering Allah the Great and Glorious. Then when their festival day comes, i.e. the Eid day, He (Allah) speaks proudly of them to his angels saying, “O My angels, what is the reward of a hired servant who has fully accomplished his work?” They say, “Our Lord, his reward is that he should be paid his wages in full.” He says, “O My angels! My male and female servants have fulfilled what I have made obligatory for them, and then have come out raising their voices in supplication. By My Might, Glory, Honour, High dignity and Exalted Station, I will certainly answer them.” Then He says, “Return, I have forgiven you and changed your evil deeds into good deeds.” The Messenger of Allah said, “Then they return having received forgiveness.” [Mishkat, Vol. 1, Page 182]

V. Hadrat ‘Aishah reported that when the last ten days began, the Messenger of Allah used to prepare himself rigorously for devotion; remain awake at night and (also) keep his family awake. [Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 1, Page 271]

Shab-e-Baraat ek azeem raat hai jo maghfirat aur rehmat ka azim tyohaar hai. Is raat Allah Ta'ala apne bandon ki dua qubool karta hai aur unke gunaah maaf karta hai. 6 rakat namaz, Surah Ikhlas aur Surah Yasin ki tilawat karna bohot afzal hai. Shab e Baraat 2025: Sacred Night of Forgiveness, Prayers & Blessings

Shab e Baraat 2025: Sacred Night of Forgiveness, Prayers & Blessings

Shabaan Moon Sighting in Mumbai: Official Announcement & Significance

The sighting of the Shabaan moon marks the beginning of a spiritually significant month in the Islamic calendar. Shab e Baraat in 2025 will be observed on the night of 13th February 2025, following sunset. On 31st January 2025 (Jumuah), the 1st of Shabaan 1446 was officially declared in Mumbai following verified moon sighting reports from Surat. Qazi e Shaher Hazrat Allama Mufti Mehmood Akhtar Sahab Qibla confirmed the sighting, making the announcement for the Muslim community.

The Significance of Shabaan in Islam

Shabaan is the eighth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is considered a preparatory month leading up to Ramadan. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the virtues of this month, describing it as a time of increased worship, repentance, and preparation for the upcoming fasting month.

Among the most notable nights in this month is Shab e Baraat, which falls on the night of 13th February 2025, following the sunset of that day in Mumbai. This night holds deep spiritual value for Muslims worldwide as they engage in prayer, seek forgiveness, and remember their deceased loved ones.

The Process of Moon Sighting and Islamic Jurisprudence

The moon sighting process follows strict guidelines as prescribed in Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh). It requires:

  • Sharai Gawah (Authentic Witnesses): At least two credible witnesses must confirm the sighting.
  • Qazi or Mufti’s Approval: The local Islamic authority, in this case, Mufti Mehmood Akhtar Sahab, verifies and announces the official sighting.
  • Public Announcement: Once confirmed, mosques, media, and community leaders spread the information.

This structured approach ensures that the Islamic months commence uniformly and align with traditional principles.

The Importance of Shab e Baraat 1446

1. A Night of Forgiveness and Mercy

Shab e Baraat is described as the night when Allah (SWT) forgives the sins of His believers. It is a time when Muslims engage in special prayers (Nawafil), seek forgiveness (Istighfar), and make dua for their deceased relatives.

2. Special Acts of Worship in Shabaan

  • Fasting: Many Muslims fast voluntarily in this month, following the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who fasted frequently in Shabaan.
  • Recitation of the Holy Quran: It is a time for increased Quranic recitation and reflection.
  • Charity (Sadaqah): Giving to the poor and needy is highly encouraged.
  • Visiting Graves: Muslims visit the graves of their loved ones and pray for their forgiveness.

Recommended Prayers and Supplications on Shab e Baraat

Performing specific prayers and supplications (duas) on Shab e Baraat is believed to bring immense spiritual rewards. Some of the most commonly recommended practices include:

1. Voluntary Prayers (Nawafil)

  • Six Rakaat Nafl Prayer: After Maghrib, perform six rakaat of Nafl prayer, divided into three sets of two rakaat each.
  • Recite Surah Yaseen after completing the prayer or Surah Ikhlas 21 times, followed by Dua-e-Nisf-e-Shabaan.

2. Dua-e-Nisf-e-Shabaan (Special Supplication for the Night)

(Complete Dua E Nisf E Shabaan here)

3. Fasting for Blessings

While not obligatory, fasting on the 14th and 15th of Shabaan is highly recommended as per the Sunnah.

How to Prepare for Shab e Baraat 2025

With the official Shabaan moon sighting confirmed, preparations for Shab e Baraat on 13th February 2025 should begin. Some ways to prepare include:

  • Spiritual Reflection: Make sincere dua for yourself, your family, and the Muslim Ummah.
  • Voluntary Fasting: Fast on the 13th, 14th, and 15th of Shabaan if possible.
  • Quranic Study: Read and reflect on the messages of the Quran.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in masjid events and communal prayers.

When is Shab e Baraat 2025?

The sighting of the Shabaan moon in Mumbai officially marks the beginning of this sacred Islamic month. With Shab e Baraat falling on the night of 13th February 2025, the Muslim community in India and around the world is encouraged to prepare spiritually for this blessed night of mercy and forgiveness. Observing fasts, increasing acts of worship, and seeking divine mercy will ensure that we welcome Ramadan with purified hearts and souls.

Isra and Mi'raj: The Miraculous Night of Divine Blessings and Faith

Isra and Mi'raj: The Miraculous Night of Divine Blessings and Faith

The Isra and Mi'raj is one of the most significant miracles in Islamic history. It marks the miraculous night journey and ascension of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to the heavens. This extraordinary event is celebrated every year by millions of Muslims across the world, including India. It is a time for reflection, prayer, and spiritual devotion. In this article, we will explore the significance of Isra and Mi'raj, its historical context, and its relevance in Islamic practices, including Shab-e-Meraj ki Niyat, Shab-e-Meraj Roza Time, Shab-e-Meraj Roza Niyat, and Shab-e-Meraj Nafil Namaz.

What is Isra and Mi'raj?

Isra and Mi'raj refer to the two phases of the miraculous journey undertaken by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in a single night. According to Islamic tradition, the Prophet (PBUH) was transported from Masjid al-Haram in Mecca to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem (Isra) and then ascended to the heavens (Mi'raj) where he met various prophets and was granted the divine gift of Salah (prayer).

The Journey of Isra

Isra refers to the first part of the journey where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) traveled from Mecca to Jerusalem on Buraq, a celestial steed. Upon reaching Masjid al-Aqsa, he led the other prophets in prayer, symbolizing the unity of all previous revelations in Islam.

The Journey of Mi'raj

Mi'raj is the second part of the journey where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ascended through the seven heavens and encountered prophets such as Adam, Ibrahim, Musa, and Isa (peace be upon them all). He was ultimately granted the vision of Sidrat al-Muntaha, the divine boundary where no creation had ever reached before. It was during this divine audience that Allah (SWT) commanded the establishment of five daily prayers (Salah), a fundamental pillar of Islam.

Spiritual Significance of Isra and Mi'raj

Isra and Mi'raj hold immense significance in Islamic theology. The journey symbolizes divine mercy, spiritual elevation, and the Prophet's (PBUH) unique status. It serves as a reminder of Allah’s power and the rewards for those who remain steadfast in faith despite adversities.

Lessons from Isra and Mi'raj:

  1. Faith and Devotion: Despite skepticism from the Quraysh, Abu Bakr (RA) immediately believed in the Prophet’s (PBUH) journey, earning the title As-Siddiq (The Truthful).

  2. The Importance of Salah: The direct divine command for five daily prayers underscores its significance in a Muslim's life.

  3. Patience in Hardships: The journey came at a time when the Prophet (PBUH) faced immense personal and social challenges, symbolizing that trials are followed by divine blessings.

  4. Belief in the Unseen: The event is a testament to Allah’s infinite power, encouraging believers to strengthen their Iman (faith).

Shab-e-Meraj Ki Niyat: How to Observe the Night

Shab-e-Meraj, or the Night of Ascension, is a night of deep spiritual significance. Muslims engage in prayers, recitation of the Quran, and seeking forgiveness from Allah. The intention (niyat) for this blessed night can be made in the following way:

“I intend to seek closeness to Allah through worship, prayers, and reflection on the night of Isra and Mi'raj.”

Shab-e-Meraj Roza Time and Niyat

Although fasting on Shab-e-Meraj is not obligatory, many devout Muslims observe it as a form of voluntary worship. The Shab-e-Meraj Roza time follows the general fasting schedule, starting from Suhur (pre-dawn meal) until Maghrib (sunset).

Niyat for fasting on Shab-e-Meraj: "I intend to fast on the blessed day of Isra and Mi'raj for the sake of Allah."

Shab-e-Meraj Nafil Namaz

Performing Nafil prayers on Shab-e-Meraj is a recommended act of worship. Here are some prayers one can observe:

  1. Salat-ul-Tasbeeh: A four-rakat prayer with the continuous recitation of "Subhanallahi wal Hamdulillahi wa la ilaha illallahu wallahu Akbar".

  2. Tahajjud: A late-night prayer that brings spiritual elevation.

  3. Two Rakats of Gratitude (Shukr Salah): Expressing thankfulness for the blessings of faith and divine guidance.

  4. Istighfar and Dua: Seeking forgiveness and making heartfelt supplications.

Why Shab-e-Meraj is Important for Muslims in India

What Happened on Shab E Meraj? The Prophet’s Journey to the Heavens

What Happened on Shab E Meraj? The Prophet’s Journey to the Heavens

 # The Lesson from Isra and Mi’raj: A Journey of Truth and Resilience

The event of Isra and Mi’raj holds great significance in Islamic history, marking a miraculous journey undertaken by Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihe wasallam (صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ). It serves as a divine lesson in faith, perseverance, and the ultimate victory of truth over falsehood. Throughout time, the struggle between Haqq (truth) and Batil (falsehood) has been evident. Falsehood has persistently tried to suppress the truth, but Allah’s divine message has always prevailed.

This sacred journey occurred when Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihe wasallam (صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) faced immense hardships in Makkah. The Isra and Mi’raj was not only a miraculous event but also a testament to resilience, faith, and divine support. In this article, we delve into the historical background, key lessons, and spiritual significance of this event.

The Eternal Struggle Between Truth (Haqq) and Falsehood (Batil)

From the beginning of time, there has been a continuous battle between righteousness and falsehood. Allah sent numerous prophets to guide humanity, yet each of them faced persecution and rejection by those who sought to uphold falsehood. The message of Haqq (truth) was never easily accepted by those benefiting from corruption and misguidance.

Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihe wasallam (صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) stated:

“Among all the prophets, I have endured the greatest hardships in propagating the truth.”

This quote underscores the immense sacrifices and struggles he faced while delivering Allah’s divine message.

Divine Rewards of Mi’raj Night

The night of Isra and Mi’raj was a time of immense blessings and divine rewards. During this miraculous journey, Allah bestowed several extraordinary gifts upon Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihe wasallam (صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) and his followers.

1. Establishment of Five Daily Prayers (Salah)

One of the greatest blessings of Mi’raj was the obligation of five daily prayers (Salah). Initially commanded as fifty, the prayers were reduced to five while retaining the reward of fifty. This showcases Allah’s immense mercy and compassion for believers.

2. Vision of Paradise and Hell

During this celestial journey, the Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam (صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) was shown the rewards of Paradise and the punishments of Hell, reinforcing the reality of the Hereafter and the consequences of one’s deeds.

3. Strengthening of Faith and Certainty

This event solidified the faith of believers, demonstrating Allah’s boundless power and the certainty of His divine wisdom. It emphasized the importance of patience, perseverance, and trust in Allah’s plan.

Challenges Faced by Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihe wasallam (صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ)

Before the miraculous journey of Isra and Mi’raj, Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihe wasallam (صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) experienced immense personal losses and challenges, marking a difficult phase in his mission.

1. Loss of Abu Talib – His Greatest Protector

Abu Talib, the Prophet’s uncle, was his strongest protector against the oppression of Quraysh. His passing left the Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam (صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) vulnerable to relentless persecution.

2. Death of Khadijah (RA) – His Strongest Supporter

The loss of Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (RA), the Prophet’s beloved wife, further deepened his sorrow. She was his emotional and financial supporter, the first to accept Islam, and a source of immense comfort.

3. Rejection in Ta’if – A Painful Experience

Seeking a receptive audience, the Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam (صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) traveled to Ta’if, but he was met with hostility and violence. The people rejected his message, and he was pelted with stones until he bled, yet he remained patient.

Despite these hardships, the Isra and Mi’raj served as a divine reassurance that Allah’s support was with him.

The Miraculous Journey of Isra and Mi’raj

1. The Night Journey (Isra)

Angel Jibreel Alayhi al-Salam visited the Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam (صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) while he was either in the house of Umm Hani (RA) or near the Kaaba. The celestial steed Buraq was presented to him, which transported him from Makkah to Masjid Al-Aqsa (Jerusalem) at lightning speed. Upon arrival, he led all previous prophets in prayer, affirming his status as Imam Al-Anbiya (Leader of the Prophets).

2. The Heavenly Ascension (Mi’raj)

After leading the prayer, the Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam (صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) ascended through the seven heavens, meeting prophets at each level:

  • Adam Alayhi al-Salam in the first heaven

  • Isa Alayhi al-Salam and Yahya Alayhi al-Salam in the second

  • Yusuf Alayhi al-Salam in the third

  • Idris Alayhi al-Salam in the fourth

  • Harun Alayhi al-Salam in the fifth

  • Musa Alayhi al-Salam in the sixth

  • Ibrahim Alayhi al-Salam in the seventh

Upon reaching Sidrat al-Muntaha, a divine boundary, he received direct revelations from Allah, including the command for daily prayers.

Key Lessons from Isra and Mi’raj

  1. Divine Help Arrives After Hardship – Even in difficult times, Allah provides support to His righteous servants.

  2. Significance of Salah – The five daily prayers are a direct gift from Allah and a means of spiritual elevation.

  3. Patience and Perseverance – The journey highlights the importance of remaining steadfast in faith, regardless of hardships.

  4. The Reality of the Hereafter – Witnessing Paradise and Hell emphasized accountability and the consequences of one’s deeds.

The Isra and Mi’raj is more than just a historical event; it is a lesson in resilience, faith, and divine mercy. It teaches believers to trust Allah’s plan, uphold the truth, and remain steadfast despite adversities. The journey reinforces the significance of Salah, patience, and unwavering devotion to Allah.

As we reflect on this miraculous journey, we should apply its lessons in our lives, strengthen our faith, and seek Allah’s guidance in all circumstances. Indeed, the struggle between Haqq (truth) and Batil (falsehood) continues, but as history shows, truth will always prevail.

Shab-e-Bara’at: The Night of Forgiveness, Mercy, and Blessings

Shab-e-Bara’at: The Night of Forgiveness, Mercy, and Blessings

The 15th night of Shaban, commonly known as Shab-e-Bara’at or the Night of Forgiveness, holds great significance in Islam. It is also referred to as "Jagne Ki Raat" (The Night of Awakening) and is considered a night of divine blessings and mercy.

Numerous authentic Hadiths (Ahadith Sahihah) confirm the virtues of this night. According to Ibn Majah, Hazrat Ali (RA) narrated that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

"When the fifteenth night of Shaban arrives, worship during the night and fast during the day. For Allah descends to the nearest heaven from sunset and proclaims: ‘Is there anyone who seeks forgiveness so that I may forgive him? Is there anyone seeking sustenance so that I may provide for him? Is there anyone suffering from a hardship so that I may grant him relief?’ This continues until the break of dawn.” (Ibn Majah - Kitab Aqimus Salah)

The Virtue of Shab-e-Bara’at

Similarly, Mishkat Sharif records a narration from Hazrat Aisha (RA):
"One night, I could not find the Prophet (PBUH) beside me. I went out searching for him and found him in Jannat-ul-Baqi (graveyard). He (PBUH) said: ‘O Aisha! Did you fear that Allah and His Messenger would wrong you?’ She replied, ‘I thought you had gone to one of your wives.’ The Prophet (PBUH) then said: ‘Indeed, on the fifteenth night of Shaban, Allah descends to the lowest heaven and forgives a number of people greater than the hairs on the sheep of the tribe of Kalb.’” (Mishkat - 411)

This Hadith highlights the great mercy and forgiveness that Allah bestows on this night.

What is Shab-e-Bara’at? Why is it Special?

Shab-e-Bara’at, also known as "The Night of Forgiveness", is one of the most sacred nights in Islam. It falls on the 15th night of Shaban, the month before Ramadan.

🔹 It is a night of mercy, blessings, and forgiveness.
🔹 Allah opens the doors of His mercy and forgives countless sinners.
🔹 It is an opportunity to repent for past sins and seek a fresh start.
🔹 Many Muslims pray, fast, and give charity on this night.

Wouldn’t you want to make the most of this blessed night? Read on to learn what makes this night special and how you can maximize its blessings!

Visiting the Graveyard on Shab-e-Bara’at

It is also a Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to visit graves on this night and pray for the deceased.

Hazrat Buraidah (RA) narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) said:
"I had previously forbidden you from visiting graves, but now I permit you to do so." (Muslim Sharif)

Hazrat Ibn Masud (RA) also reported that the Prophet (PBUH) said:
"Visiting the graves makes one disinterested in worldly matters and reminds one of the Hereafter." (Ibn Majah)

Even Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself visited the grave of his beloved mother, Hazrat Amina bint Wahb (RA) and offered supplications for her. (Muslim Sharif)

This Sunnah teaches us that we should remember our deceased loved ones and pray for their forgiveness and peace.

Acts of Worship and Charity on Shab-e-Bara’at

Muslims engage in various good deeds on this blessed night, including:
Offering Nafl (voluntary) prayers
Reciting the Quran
Making abundant Istighfar (seeking forgiveness)
Reciting Durood Sharif (Salutations upon the Prophet)
Visiting graves and making Duas for the deceased
Giving charity and feeding the poor

Many people organize Quran recitation gatherings and distribute food to the needy, as acts of charity hold great rewards on this night.

Avoiding Un-Islamic Practices

Unfortunately, in some places, un-Islamic traditions and baseless activities are observed on this night, which have no connection with the teachings of Islam.

Some youth spend the night roaming the streets, making noise, and engaging in unnecessary activities, believing that simply staying awake has religious merit.
Fireworks and other non-Islamic celebrations distract from the true purpose of this night.

💡 Reality: The true essence of Shab-e-Bara’at is worship, reflection, and turning towards Allah with sincerity. If one cannot engage in meaningful acts of worship, it is better to sleep rather than waste time in useless activities.

Sincerity in Worship

Worship should be done with full devotion and sincerity, as stated in Hadith. The deceased souls wait for gifts (Eisale Sawaab) from their loved ones on this night.

If one cannot physically visit graves, they should still make Eisale Sawaab (sending rewards) through recitation of the Quran, charity, and supplications.
